Brandnew Info - 04/04/2025Thermal insulation protective sheet (BST-23) that prevents the spread of fire from lithium-ion batteries

Starlite has developed thermal insulation protective sheet (BST-23), a thin sheet that combines heat insulation and penetration resistance at high temperatures. As our uniquely developed sheet can withstand temperatures of over 1300 °C for a short time, even if a product with lithium-ion batteries catches fire, it can prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding materials by attaching the sheet inside the casing. In addition, by attaching a 1 mm thick* thermal insulation protective sheet (BST-23) to a metal plate, the sheet can provide a thermal insulation effect of approximately 1000 °C.
- *: The thickness can be adjusted according to customer needs.

BST-23 allows the laminated structure to expand under high temperatures and demonstrates thermal insulation and impact resistance by creating space between layers.

Key Features
Blocks high temperature
The sheet withstands temperatures of up to 1300 °C and prevents fire from spreading.
Excellent penetration resistance even after heating at high temperatures
The sheet prevents particle collisions from penetrating and is 30 times more durable than existing products.
Other applications
It is expected to be used in battery storage facilities for lightweight, thin, fire-resistant purposes, garbage trucks that may catch fire from ignition or combustion, and containers, storage and fire-resistant doors that require fire resistance and thermal insulation.

We will continue to pursue innovative technologies for high-performance materials and work on developing products that realize safety and security in our daily lives.
