Starlite Co., Ltd. (Asahi ward, Osaka, Japan/President and CEO Takamitsu Saigo) launched S-Bear DD, a planet gear reducer using resin parts for its gear and mechanical components, on a trial basis for research and development partners in October. Unlike existing metal reducers, the resin reducer is lightweight and rustproof, and requires no lubrication or sealing parts. Starlite will work together with their partners to perfect the product through trial sales and aim to sell it to the public. Starlite’s final target is to provide the reducer as a component part for industrial robots. S-Bear DD is designed to be the same size as conventional reducers, meaning the partner companies will only need to replace the product to conduct performance tests.
