Notice and Info - 14/08/2023Kogakuin University and Starlite presented research results on biomass plastics in joint names at the Tribology Conference 2023 Spring Tokyo and the Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Polymer Processing.
The results of collaborative research with the Polymeric Materials Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Program of the Graduate School of Engineering at Kogakuin University were jointly presented at the Tribology Conference 2023 Spring Tokyo organized by the Japanese Society of Tribologists (held from May 29 to 31, 2023) and the Annual Meeting organized by the Japan Society of Polymer Processing (held from June 21 to 22, 2023).
We presented our research on the modification of polyamide 1010, a biomass plastic made from non-edible plants that does not conflict with food issues, by gamma irradiation. The modification by gamma irradiation is a technology used for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene in artificial joints, and we announced that the tribological properties and mechanical strength can be improved by applying the technology to polyamide 1010.
We aim to expand the application of biomass plastics to functional parts such as bearings and gears, and will continue our research and development that contribute to the reduction of environmental loads.
